BLUESKII

Blue was rescued off of 7th St in downtown Allentown, PA. He was eating old food in the left lane of the road. Several people were standing around saying that he had gone into their businesses but wouldn't let them get near him with the food. I blocked off 7th St with my truck and called the pup who came right over and jumped into my truck. He was nervous and so was my own dog in the back. Blue was microchipped but the registered owner was the 3rd previous owner. Through facebook, I was able to track down the most current owner thanks to their neighbors who stated the dog was living in horrendous cicrumstances. The owner contacted me letting me knwo they let Blue out on purpose and would only pick him up to take him to the shelter or to be euthanized. They listed an extensive and concerning list of behavioral problems he had before surrendering him to us. While the first couple months were rough due to the behavioral problems, most of them have become completely absent after years of training. The rest have become manageable. He is a very sweet dog and loves his home, toys, and scratches.

He is now very well taken care of, appropriately groomed, and most of all loved whenever he asks for it.

SMOKEY

Smokey was received from Austin Pets Alive rescue in Austin, TX. We were told he had a bite record. Despite this, he seemed like a very trainable dog who had been at the shelter for a long time due to his very large size and bite history. We adopted him and he turned out to be the biggest goofball. We eventually learned that the circumstances around his "bite" were not his fault. After quite a while of obedience training, he is now quite the gentleman and is the biggest cuddlebug despite taking up the most space.

He also racked up the largest vet bill out of all of our small animals. The first week after he was adopted, we discovered he had separation anxiety. He broke out of his crate and shredded the contents of the room he was in. He also managed to get a plastic bin out of a wooden dresser drawer, chew the plastic bin open, and then chew open a bottle of Excedrin that was in the bin. He was promptly taken to the ER vet after we returned home and stayed for observation at the ER vet for 48hrs including the protective and treatment medications for Excedrin ingestion. We are still paying off that vet bill on CareCredit. Luckily, he suffered no long term complications. He got a stronger crate and was trained for his separation anxiety. He no longer has separation anxiety and every dangerous medication/cleaner/food are behind locked cabinets or closets

WILLOW

WILLOW is a 3 yo old German Shepard received from Adams County SPCA in Pennsylvania. She was a rescue from a severe abuse, neglect, and inbreeding case. Despite the months of care at the SPCA before being adopted, her coat was dull and rough, she was still skin and bones, and the broken tail she received from her owner/breeder was healed in a way that could not be fixed. The SPCA informed us that was she was taken she from her mother too early and never learned how to socialize with other dogs. Along with the abuse and neglect she received from the only human she knew until then, she was a large dog who acted like a few month old puppy with many incorrect/rude dog behaviors. She was also petrified of new environments, sounds, grooming, and new people.  We were advised not to adopt her because one of our other dogs did not like her during introductions at the shelter. However, they also did not have any other good fits to adopt her. Despite the dogs not initially getting along, they still thought our sanctuary was the best fit for her. After long, slow, and carefully supervised introductions along with individual obedience training, all 5 dogs now get along very well and can play together unsupervised without concern! They are all quite bonded now! She also now accepts being petted over her prior injury sites, is learning how to behave like a real dog every day while socializing with our dogs and has gotten more confident with strangers and new environments thanks to many trips to Lowes.

She is a happy girl who knows nothing but love, toys, and treats from us! She also uses her forever puppy privilege to steal everybody else’s toys!

VIOLET

Violet is a 4 yo mix-breed dog adopted from Squishy Face Paws in VA. She is the glue that holds the pack together! She is the most tolerating dog and is Willow's surrogate mom! She is full of happiness, wiggles, licks, and love! Her wigglebutt and tail often knock things off the tables when she comes to play or get pet. She loves to lay in the sun in the house and will find the perfect shade area to relax in the dog run!

NAGURO

Naguro is also a 4yo mix-breed dog adopted from Squishy Face Paws in VA. He was adopted in hopes that he would be able to become a Service Dog for Peyton. He successfully completed training to become a Service Dog by about the time he was 2yo and now attends Medical School with Peyton! When he isn't working, he is loud, rambunctious, and obsessed with squirrels. He is every bit a working pup who loves to help out on the farm just as much as he loves his job as an SD. At the end of the day he must be the center of a attention and is affectionately known as "Hambone" for this reason.
